A group of ten convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced allegations of spreading fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has not yet been published.
A persistent unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their complaint alleges that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence contradicting her allegations opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The two entered into matrimony in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
