A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were alerted at about 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
