Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from that period of that year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an better serving game.
The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to force a third set.
The opponent defended 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
