Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group access areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
